This work is a pioneering attempt to survey the various problems of credit provided by Rural Banks (RRBS) for Rural Development. It explains the genesis and growth of Rural Financial Institutions and the need for establishing the R R Bs in the country. This particular financial institution in meant to provide the nucleus of Rural Finance in a region which is administratively designated as district.This research work is in the nature of a case study of an RRB in the state of Orissa and of India.
The Rural Banks, being the Institution for Rural Development and for Rural Credit can bring remarkable positive changes in the Rural sector, if the constraints in their functioning can be removed. As such this work makes a painstaking attempt to find out the constraints on the functioning of R.R.B. and to suggest remedial measures to the Bank as well as to the sponsor Bank, State and Central Governments.
